    Nicho Making Workshop
    With Anna and Luz Martinez

    Get creative with clay and bring colorful little skeletons (calaveras) to life by participating in this traditional Mexican and Latin American folk art craft. You will first create your calavera, then place it in a decorated nicho (altar box). You may bring along a small picture of a departed one to place in your box as well, but keep in mind that these nichos are often humorous and light hearted. Space is limited so sign up soon!  Ages 12 and up.

    Day of the Dead Altered Book Workshop
    With Kelli Perkins

    Transform a recycled board book into an altered book that celebrates El Dias de los Muertos, or the Mexican Day of the Dead. We'll incorporate handmade stamps, found poetry, fabric and household junk into a book you'll cherish. You may bring  small photos of loved ones and/ or favorite ephemera and charms to include into your book, but basic supplies will be provided.
    This workshop is limited to the first 20 registrants. Registration opens on the library's website beginning Sept 26 2013.  300 S. River Ave. Holland, MI
